Thank you all for taking part in our inaugural evaluation camp for HC of STL.  It was incredible to have 88 families participate in our first weekend.  It also confirmed our vision that St. Louis is in need of our program.

Our coaches had some very tough decisions to make which is the hardest part of being a coach.  Below you will see a list of names for the 2011 and 2012 teams and comments from each head coach.  The 2011 group is going to hold one additional evaluation on Sunday September 8th.  The 2012 group is all set and will hold their first group practice on that same Sunday.

Here are Coach Lashoff’s comments on the 2011 evaluations: "I want to thank everyone who came out for the first Hockey Club of St. Louis weekend. I am blown away by both the talent and drive that these young athletes have at such a young age. The future of St. Louis hockey is in a great place. Moving forward my goal is to provide a platform for every player to both compete and grow. From an analytical perspective, we are going to push the boundaries and solidify a bedrock for each player to reach for new levels of skill, compete level and overall understanding of the concepts needed to excel at future levels. Most importantly we want to create great teammates and have fun in the process. Every young athlete’s path is different and each presents its own chapters of successes and defeats. My hope is to be able to teach each player to thrive in a place athletically where they are encouraged to push the boundaries of their comfort zones and are confident enough to learn by making mistakes. I am already excited about what this year will bring and how much fun we will have. I am honored that you have entrusted all of us at HCofSTL to be a part of you and your child's journey. As I stated in the coaches meeting at the beginning of "camp" please do not be discouraged if you are not on this list. Please use us as a resource and remember to build your kids up. Build their confidence and continue to build their love for the game."

Thank You,

Matt Lashoff

Here are Coach Mayers’ comments: "I was pleasantly surprised by the level of play from the players all weekend at the 2012 AAU tryouts.  My goal is to provide a challenging environment for these young players to grow.  Growth of their skill level, compete level, hockey IQ and most importantly confidence.  Their development is not a linear path which is why I will encourage them to learn by making mistakes and pushing them outside their individual comfort zones.   We will have fun, learn and become supportive teammates along the way.  Thanks for entrusting me to be the steward of the beginning of this journey.  Please do not be discouraged if you're not on this list.  Remember they are 6-7 years old and I have purposefully reserved the option to add players during the season.”

Thanks again!

Jamal Mayers

For the families that are listed above we will have additional communication next week.
